I wonder if TNTD (Try New Tobacco Disorder) belongs in this category or the Tobacco section. I feel that it goes strongly with TAD, especially when acquiring untried baccies. For example, in recent weeks I've amassed a whole bunch of GL Pease, G&H, SG and Peterson blends. I've been restraining myself from cracking open a tin of each. So far I've only opened Rum Flake and SG Black XX rope. I just got an order in yesterday with Peterson Irish Flake and University flake and also G&H Brown Twist and Sweet Rum Twist. Since the latter two are bulk I don't feel as badly about trying them. Anyone else have similar problems. I'm really trying to fight this TNTD. We'll see.

Good luck, bro. At one time I had about twenty different tins open;and really not enough time to smoke more than half a ti n a week.
My solution was to jar them up as soon as they were opened.I have some aged Abingdon that a dear friend sent;it was last smoked when PurosBran stopped in for coffee and a smoke, last November or December(?).I guarantee you it is still as good as when it was first opened.
By trying a lot of different weedages,I learned what it was that I liked, and I now have several years worth of my favorites aging, waiting, sitting prettily...I have become a hoarder of fine weed!
I am a shameless lover of GLP products;they come in great storage containers, but my experience with any tobacco is that if not soon smoked, they will dry out and deteriorate after opening if left in the original containers.Ball jars eliminate that problem completely.
Don't fret overmuch about TNTD.You will learn what you like, you will learn how you like to practice.
Respectfully,Tony

Thanks, Tony. I have lots of stuff in jars but tend to try to finish tins that I open. It's one of my few obsessive behaviors. I also know what I like but rarely return because there are so many great blends untried. I also go through phases, now VAs now English, now burlies now Lakeland (which can be it's own category). I think I will pop these blends in jars, though and pop a few more tins. Very Happy Like you I'm a horder. If I try something I like I immediately by more for later. I usually make a habit of buying two tins at a time. If I end up not liking it I can always trade for something I like better. If I do like it I'll buy more. So many tobaccos, so little time. Sigh. Sad

My wife refers to it as OCD. She threatened ta call the VA if I get to carried away affraid affraid The one and only reason I don't buy two tins or large bulks a week is the paltry budget she allows me. Sad . Won't even go into PAD.

PS, as Bro Tony mentioned, Ball jars are our very close friends.

I'm new at this and firmly in exploring mode.
I have 87 different blends and 24 open tins.
It is hard not to just keep opening more.
There are so many I can't wait to try.

Don't up your medications. From personal experience it might double what you have open now. The last time they increased mine I ended up with 7 more open tins and jars before I realised it LMAO. It sure is fun but SWMBO always wonders why I have so many open nand then I have to splain it all over again. I only have 23 open now and fighting the urge to open a few more. She is going to jump on my ass anyway. I ordered a new pipe and 8 ozs. of BBF. I'll have to tell her tonight before she finds out on her own. It is fun playing this game with them. I do have a very supportive and generous wife that supports my pipe smoking almost with no questions. Think I'll keep her cheers cyclops sunny sunny affraid

Yeah, I must confess that My Swambo is very good about it. I think she'd like me to be a little tidier with the 30 open tins - they tend to be distributed a bit. And, every so often, when she comes across my main stash, it's always a shock (to her). So far, so good.
