Hearth and Home Old Companion

This is a blend from Russ Ouellette of Pipes and Cigars (also known as Habana Premium Cigars) in his Hearth and Home line. There's nothing fancy about this tobacco, it's just air cured burley and VA, but the result is a very good burley blend.

Old Companion packs and lights easily and does not require a lot of relights. It has a really nice toasted nutty burley flavor that would undoubtably have pleased a lot of our grandfathers. I personally like it in a pipe with a larger bowl, but that's my preference with most burleys.

Prices on the H&H line have gone up in the last year but they're still a good buy at $29.85/lb. when you consider the quality of the tobaccos used.

I give Old Companion a big thumbs up and keep some here on hand.

I would call it a medium body, something along the lines of Edgeworth RRed.

I like it too smokey, but I have to really go slow, or it bites me pretty hard. However, it has a roasty, toasty, maple like sweetness that is tough to beat!

All the best,

Jeff T.
