It's gonna be hard to keep Big Brother from getting what he wants= CONTROL

Walk in to/or up to any store, gas station, and you're on Candid Camera already. The trash cans have chips in them now to measure how many pounds of recyclables you process each year. The uniform man just told us that all our employee uniforms are going to be re-issued in 2011 and they will all have chips in them. It's just the beginning folks. affraid

Actually its blown out of porportion..

iPhone apps only harvest what Steve Jobs says it can harvest. Android apps only harvest what the user explicitly allow it to collect (done prior to install) whether the users pay attention or not the app tells you what it wants access to and you have to allow it...

Besides what 'they' collect is nothing a decent 10 year old couldn't cypher out themselves. Law enforcement already has access to most of it and you better believe Chief High Muckety muck intel guys have access to it.. Zuckerburg was right when he said "privacy is dead" .. the only funny part is we kicked it in the nuts and sucker punched it when it was bowled over, then continued to stomp the crap out of it while it was laying down.. What used to take a warrent or at least some legwork now only requires knowing a facebook page or a twitter account.

Quote :
Few devices know more personal details about people than the smartphones in their pockets: phone numbers, current location, often the owner's real name—even a unique ID number that can never be changed or turned off.

These phones don't keep secrets. They are sharing this personal data widely and regularly, a Wall Street Journal investigation has found.

An examination of 101 popular smartphone "apps"—games and other software applications for iPhone and Android phones—showed that 56 transmitted the phone's unique device ID to other companies without users' awareness or consent. Forty-seven apps transmitted the phone's location in some way. Five sent age, gender and other personal details to outsiders.

The findings reveal the intrusive effort by online-tracking companies to gather personal data about people in order to flesh out detailed dossiers on them.

The id number can be changed very easily ..
You can turn the gps off on RIM and Android..
Turning the phone off disables the tower location trick..
and routing everything through Google Voice will add another layer to your sent and received calls....

Then if your real serious there's 20 buck burn phones...

Anyway if you think that's scary you should see the info the electric company has on you.. or check out a read out off your cars computer...
