Gents & Ladies, a polite request as Moderator:
Please do your best to post any new topics into the right category, as listed on the main page. It'll make the BoB more useful for everyone involved.
Please don't just post in the Round Table, unless it really doesn't fit anywhere else (including the Rubber Room.) Most topics have an obvious place to go: pipe and tobacco talk, sports, music, etc. It's gotten to the point where so many topics are threaded into the Round Table that users assume it's the best place to post if they want their topics to be read, and in a vicious cycle, users have even felt the need to advertise correctly-filed topics in the RT. That's a bad signal-to-noise ratio. Don't let it become like what Yogi said: "Nobody goes there anymore; it's too crowded."
An easy rule-of-thumb for Rubber Room topics: If it's a topic that's debated in the media, or referred to as "controversial" and/or "divisive," please start it in the Rubber Room. You may think the right side of the issue is obvious (pipe-smokers are deep thinkers and have some strong opinions), but if people debate that issue in the real world, then put it in the RR. It's just common courtesy to other BoB members who either choose not to subscribe to the RR, or have times/places (on the job especially) where they can't be looking at that kind of content.
Mods may move topics without warning or explanation to help promote this. It's no judgment on your topic and/or opinion. If a topic "goes missing," just check out the "View Posts Since Last Visit" feature or "View My Posts" and it should turn up in its new home. (For posts moved to the Rubber Room, you will have to be a RR subscriber to see them--just ask to be added.)
You guys on the BoB are the best, and you deserve the best. Thanks for for doing this little bit to help out.
