I was traveling to Ithaca NY this evening and spied a sign that said
"Scenic Falls". It was a wonderful evening, so I thought, why not? The
falls turned out to be Taughannock Falls and they were pretty
spectacular. Of course I had my Stanwell with me and some Boswell Bear
to thoroughly enjoy the view! With a 215 feet drop, they are the
highest free falls in the United States (per the signage). I walked
thru downtown Ithaca (Cornell University) but "NO SMOKING" signs were
all over the tourist areas, sigh....

Nice looking waterfall! And thanks for posting. I'm always amused at local signage that states various highs/lows/capital of/records/ etc. The falls in your photo reminded me of Fall Creek Falls in eastern TN. Wikipedia ( Fall Creek Falls) states it's the tallest free falling water fall east of the Mississippi River at 256 feet. Amicalola Falls (Amicalola Falls) in north GA, though not a free fall is listed at 729 feet.
