I see a lot of hats pictured in these threads. What is your favorite hat/pipe combo? I just picked up this one pictured with my new Castello. We were in the MGB today for a few hours with the top down, my head was nice and warm and the hat didn't blow off...

I'll try to remember to take a pipe/hat photo featuring my Welsh bargeman's cap

I have a ratty tweed rainhat (like a bucket or fishing cap) that just looks right when I'm puttering around the garden with a pipe in my mug. My girlfriend says I look like the doctor from Murder, She Wrote... which I take as a compliment, so.

(For inside, I really need a proper tam or fez to go with my smoking jacket. Someday!)

...I guess as a geeky point of note, there is a difference between "hats" and "caps..."

I have many favorite apple caps and driver caps, short upturn or "stingy brim" fedoras, and maybe a trilby if I dig deep enough... as far as matching them with my pipes? That's a tough one!

I'd definitely like to see that, my grandparents immigrated to the US from Wales.

Quite honestly, eBay, if you want vintage/classic originals. "Hats In The Belfry" online has also given me a nice bowler. Cool

The Welsh bargeman's or clipper cap, paired on this slightly chilly day with Squadron Leader in my small Italian churchwarden.

Sorry about the large size!

That's a great looking cap, and completes a nice "period" look along with that pipe, all without looking like a costume!
I like it.

Great hat! I bet that will age really well. The churchwarden is nice too. Hmmm, maybe I'll have to pick one up before too long.

Thanks. I had its predecessor for 20 years before my father-in-law took it back to Europe to replace (so hed have the size). After waiting 5 years, I went ahead and got this one on-line. The churchwarden was one of three I bought out of the basket at the local Tinderbox -- they smoke nicely!

I'm going out with my Woolrich to cut some wood for a bonfire this evening. It's been snowing here since 7 AM, we have about 4 wet inches.

Sitting out side a three-sided shelter on Isle Royale N.P. That old Akubra (Australian military) is almost 40 years old, and it's hard to think of hitting the woods with out it. The pipe is a full-bent Kirsten with a custom stem and bowl by Mike Brissitt.

Natch:
I've seen that picture before, thanks for adding it to this thread. That might just define what a pipe smoking hat should look like! What a wonderful shot.

My father took some R&R in Austrailia during the Vietnam war. He brought back an Akubra in 1969 but the darn thing is tiny and no way will fit my noggin.

I don't have a picture of it but my favorite hat for pipe smoking is my St. Louis Cardinals World Championship baseball cap!
