Bartlomiej Antoniewski does a lot of fantasy, free-form and interesting shapes, but his animal-inspired stuff struck me. There's not a lot of people who seem to want to take on realistic or wild shapes out there, and probably for good reason: I can't imagine it's that easy, the detail, the briar holding up to such rigors... I'm amazed he can do what he can do!

Those are nice. I really like the figural's for lack of a better name. I also have some, animals to people but not quite as nice I don't believe. Love the Scorpion tail.

Thanks for posting this! I hadn't heard of this guy until I spotted this thread. His work is really beautiful.

I think that scorpion is particularly impressive as well as the sumo, pictured here:

Woah! I missed the sumo! I'd love to have that pipe. I have this pseudo art-deco/Japanese thing going on in my apartment.

There's something funny about smoking a pipe of a guy smoking a pipe (which conceivably, would be a pipe of a guy smoking a pipe...)

Bart is IMHO the finest artisan of carving briar I've ever seen. Carving meerschaum is easy in comparison. I have bought two of Bart's pipes, a Mark Twain figural is an amazing rendition and the a wild Boar. The picture of the man smoking the pipe pipe is amazing.

It really is amazing....I'd be thoroughly impressed if that was carved from meerschaum....much less briar.
