Yeah, this will probably get flagged as "religious." But I'm posting it here anyhow because it has to make anybody with a functional brain stop and wonder. People don't do that enough these days.

Reference : Last Sunday's Denver Broncos/Pittsburgh Steelers game. The one that everybody said Denver had no chance to win because their quarterback (Tim Tebow) was so terrible that he didn't belong in the NFL at all as a QB.

Background : As if this is news, Tebow's the son of two missionaries and wears his faith on his sleeve. This has made him a lightning rod for those who scorn everything he stands for. And before the NFL made him stop, he also wore it on his face : "John 3:16" written in white on his eye black. Millions of people googled it as a result. (Pretty effective guerilla marketing, I'd say).

OK. Check out the "coincidences" in the Denver/Pittsburgh game.

Denver's plays were called by a John (Elway).

Tibow, (who all the "experts" said couldn't pass worth squat) upset the Steelers by throwing for 316 yards.

His yards-per-pass average was 31.6

The down and distance when Roethlisberger threw the interception that led to a 17-6 Denver halftime lead was 3rd & 16.

(Having fun yet ?)

Steelers' time of possession : 31:06

CBS' final quarter-hour overnight ratings : 31.6

Want to see (most of) it "in print" from a "credible source" ?

Makes ME stop and think, anyhow.

This is a familiar fallacy. It's been done with Lincoln-Kennedy similarities, certain measurements of the pyramids, the Empire State building, or what have you. All one has to do is collect data pertaining to your topic, then select the ones that look like "coincidence," then throw out all the rest and write up a story suggesting supernatural influence or general weirdness. Great fun.

Hey, I watch some sportsball once in a while, but I needed a drama update.

You're welcome, those of you not in the loop.

Plus, numerological incident following is considered witchery, divination, and false idol--probably bonus sin points for it being related to sports and a particular individual.

With reference to the original post :
