PostSubject: Scented candle polluted pipe   Thu May 31, 2012 3:25 pm

My sister-in-law often sends me old pipes she finds at garage sales and thrift stores. Most of them are very cheap pipes to begin with, and have clearly been abused for years. They cost her next to nothing and she really likes finding them for me. Often I end up salvaging stingers, stems and decorative bands. She’s a dear.

Once in a while there are some worth refurbishing. They are now in my regular rotation.

A long time ago there was an old French made cherry wood in the bunch (not a Ropp). It was disgusting from bit to bowl! I threw it in a drawer and forgot about it. Recently I decided to clean it up. After a down to the wood reaming, dozens of Ever Clear soaked bristle pipe cleaners, and 3 salt treatments, I got it looking pretty good. Unfortunately it had been sharing the drawer with a bayberry-scented candle for 10 years. The candle smell remains even after all that cleaning. I don’t think it will ever come out.

As I see it there are only two things I can do here:
1) Smoke the hell out of it. Maybe that will drive out the scent. That would be horrible for me. I already smoked a bowl and could hardly finish it.
2) Keep it as a decorative object.

Any other suggestions for “desmellifying” this thing, or alternate uses …?

Ahhhhhh! YES YES!! I remember now seeing Walker BW ozone treatment. I completly forgot about that. THANK YOU.

Thats great! While I'm at it I may as well consider sending them a few old pipes that could do with a deodorizing/sanitization.

I wonder if a pipe with a cake would need to be de-caked before going into the machine. I will have to ask them about that.

Rob,
For the few short days I have been a member of this wonderful community, I can't even count the number of jabs you've taken at Kyle.

I must admit, it's very entertaining lol! (No offense to the esteemed Kyle)

Don't mind them, Smokeamater, guys naturally get little forum crushes on each other sometimes... I love you (Awww.) ...remember what teasing meant in grade school? Just a theory. It's adorable.

You could post a guy innocently petting a dog and somehow they'd relate it to me smoking Borkum Riff out of a coat rack or something. Laughing

Cool
