| Finally decided it was time to take advantage of the GI Bill and start getting some college under my belt. I start two classes on the 22nd: CJ 100 Preparing for a Career in Public Safety CM107 College Composition I
I am going for an associates in criminal justice right now to get things going and will eventually keep it going for a bachelors, but that will take some time doing it all online for the time being (and probably even at home to be honest). I'm excited and figured I'd share with my brothers since I converse with y'all more than anyone else. |

| I really wanted to be a cop (advance to detective or something with a nice tie), but the..."private life" we'll just say means I'd have to work hard to probably never prove my worth, get skipped over promotions, etc. Quite a few cops on one side of the family. I looked into Game Warden or Wildlife Ranger, but there's very few positions open much of the time. So, here I am, kicking rocks for pay. Good luck with that, we need good cops. |

| Thank you both. I agree inequality for any reason is wrong and people should advance based on merit not the good ole boy system. I am looking at most likely GA and the area is still stuck on racism. The police force there has to higher white people as the minority on hat force which is good for me short term but I will definitely have to go elsewhere to go anywhere with the job, and sitting on the sidelines is not my thing. |

| *shrug* Meh, I think I would have not tolerated the "adult babysitting" and "mediator" thing very well, especially knowing it happens with the same people on a repeated basis. So, yeah, meh. I could give two craps about people prejudice, that's just people. I can't make it go away, and I'm doing better than "making do." ...but I played one in a movie, just because I could... http://www.brothersofbriar.com/t14194-i-was-filmed-in-a-movie-recently?highlight=movieJust make us proud here, do what you like and like what you do, Kaiser. That goes for any of us. |

| Welcome to higher ed--you'll do just fine, I trust. As someone who has taught the equivalent of your Comp course, I have to say my armed forces veteran students were some of my favorites. They are uniquely suited to understanding that good writing is like proper military duty: finding a wise balance between closely following directions and thinking independently as the situation demands. Plus, their stories are way more interesting than "that time I was cruising downtown in Ant's t-top Iroc, looking for someone to buy us beer." _________________ "You know what's right with this world? | Holy crap!!!! My English teacher can't form a sentence verbally without at least putting "um, k" or "uh" into the sentence at least 3 times. She is talking right now and it is absolutely driving me insane to listen to her talk. There is a chat box and I am restraining myself from typing UM into it about 50 freaking times. Someone please choke me NOW!!! |

| She no kidding just asked why proper grammar is important in writing and speaking. This woman is seriously trying to set herself up to be corrected in front of everyone. I am not this patient a person by any stretch. Must restrain fingers from typing thoughts for fear of getting a bad grade. I am on BoB while listening to her and trying not to bang my head against something hard...UM......ahhhhhh!!!! If the GI Bill wasn't paying me to go to school I would have to drop this course. |
