Hold on to your hat Rob, Disney just bought Lucasfilm for over 4 billion, plan Star Wars episode 7 for 2015, and plan to release a new star wars film 'every other year' after that.

Full story here

One can only hope they keep Lucas away from any of them with cattle prods.

Good to know that Lucas will continue to be able to "put food on the table for his family." Wink

Now if only I could wash the foul taste of Ewok from my mouth. Razz

Perhaps. Everything said, I much prefer Wookie, Wampa or Taun Taun.

Jar Jar meets and ewok and falls in love. They have the cutest kids ever, and they break out in song. The End.

Remember when everybody hated Ep. 6 because the muppets ruined it for us? that wasnt that bad in the scheme of things. As a former consumer of the Star Wars Universe novels, I am curious which story lines they are going to be following. Unfortunately as a cynic, I am sure it will be the crappy ones, or worse. Also, John Williams replaced by the toy story song guy. Finally, Mickey mouse is a Jedi. On the other hand, more Star wars Rides at disney expanding beyond Star Tours.

Too much nerd. Gotta go.

This could be a good thing. I mean, as awful as Episodes I and II were, III was pretty solid. I dunno...I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan so I'm torn between being excited for more of the great and being terrified of more of the awful.

The jury is still out on this one. Could be a good thing, but it's too early to tell.

I think 'Empire Strikes Back' is the best of the bunch as far as acting and plot. But then, a lot of fans feel this way. With IV, V, & VI you had a way to relate to the characters. You saw them grow and develop. We got to see Luke's actual training, and how relationships developed with the other characters. This is something that was seriously lacking in I, II, and III. The acting went to hell (except for my performance, of course Laughing ). The newer 3 were more about the special effects than about the characters themselves.

I still have the original Episodes 4,5, and 6 on VHS - before any restoration/digital modifications were made. Give me the originals any day over the 'upgrades' they got. Despite their quirks, they were the best IMHO.

Let's hope Disney doesn't Eff this series up even more...

They might suck, they might be good...who knows. I am just excited that when my kids get older and eventually want to go out with their friends I will have another set of movies to torture them with for "family time". Regardless I am excited.

Honestly I could care less about any future films and about how bad Episodes I, II and III were (because IMHO, they sucked) Those films are not my generation's Star Wars so I could care less. But the fact that it is all but impossible to find modern media versions of the original unaltered films is a crime in the first degree. It's a crime against film, art, and American culture. Han Solo fired the first damn shot. He was a thug, a mercenary for hire, a reluctant hero and in some galaxies probably a pimp! He was also a dirty fighter and a killer with no qualms about blasting Greedo in his green alien McNuggets. Jabba the Hutt never left his throne and wasn't one to plead with a neglectful smuggler or bounty hunter. The remakes draw into light even more inconsistencies than the idea that the Empire could be taken down with sticks, stones and primitive traps created by a bunch of cuddly teddy bears. Yes Empire Strikes Back was the best film without a doubt, and the director was not Lucas. Razz

Hang onto those VHS tapes Rob. You might some day be the only link to the the fact that better unedited versions of true SciFi classics ever existed because Lucas seems to be hell bent on wiping the originals from history. Wink

Disney has managed to handle the Marvel films quite well so hopefully that means only good things for the Star Wars universe.

This is true, Jason. At this point we can only hope for the best.

Absolutely, Brother. They are well kept, hardly viewed, and aren't going anywhere.

The first 3 (SW 1-3) movies totally felt disney, not a surprise they bought it out. I don't think Disney could do much worse.

I have a non-Lucasarts approved bumper sticker that says "WWHSD?" *shrug* Keeps 'em honest. Cool

Now I won't get as much joy out of pirating Luca$' work. What a shame.

Cool
