I've had an entire week of 18 hour days. Since you're free, wanna come down and play this week in the orchestra for me!? Just tell them you're Eric and I'll give you a trumpet to play. It's easy. Nobody'll notice. I swear.

I need an effin' break! Mad

If you were a saxophonist in need of a sub I could help out. 18 hour days sound rather intense. Glad to see that you're an employed musician though. They seem to be a rarity these days. Hope you get that well-deserved break soon.

Just stash a pocket cornet in your jacket, and Don Cherry away!
Wake up the orchestra a little...

Whenever I think of Mr E playing trumpet, I can't help but think:

Thanks gentleman, I appreciate the willingness to help out! We'll get a pocket trumpet for Rob and he'll rock Tijuana Taxi like a pro! If Harlock and Kyle join we'll have keyboards and guitar. Might as well just plan a tour or something. Kim can help out in the horn section. cheers

The Philharmonic is only part of my activities these days. I'm also doing other gigs which pile up around this time of year. Don't get me wrong, I consider myelf very fortunate to actually be working as a musician, but I can get worn out and cranky and complain just the same. I guess they're just "quality problems" in the end. Embarassed Once I complained to a teacher of mine about being overworked and he told me, "Beats what's in second place, I guess".

I do, occasionally. I have since the early '80s, when I traced the early Police sound back to The Specials. I was a weird teenager. That link Harlock posted was a trip down memory lane for me. (Good to have you back, Harlock, BTW.) I confess to still owning a black leather pork pie. It served me well a few years ago as the only white guy in a local Motown band. So yeah, I guess I have played my trombone a bit since the late '90s, but I was married at the time, which takes a lot of the fun out of being in a band. Rolling Eyes

Dude! I was practically in Mustard Plug for a while in '97/'98! (that sounds kinda dirty) I'd usually play with them whenever they were in Kalamazoo, which was about 2 or 3 times a month when ska was really popular. There were a handfull of local brass players like me that got around a lot in those days.

Man, a Ska band with sax, trumpet, trombone, and basoon! That'd be the bomb. The basoon could play bari sax parts!
