Not trying to make light of anything, or anyone here.
Just a funny and touching scene. Life affirming, even.

Cheers,
Chris.

I particularly like British insults, and of them "sod off" is, for me, one that insults best. But I'm not up on the term "sod" nor do I know what it means to "sod off," but I'm thinking it is the equivalent of "eff you?"

It's actually just another way of saying 'piss off' but it tends to be used in a 'gentler manner' and very often the term is used when jesting or not wanting to be nasty so the recipient doesn't take it the wrong way, we don't have any references to bottoms when we use the term, "go shaft yerself" would be closer to that meaning. I love you

From what I understand, the cubby was under assault by persistent attacks to the code, vulnerabilities, and the like.

Hermit, well, in a sense I guess you could say I have quit, but not in the sense that you may have meant, the site has been under attack from someone from Russia for a while now, constant attempts to hack into the site through login and direct attempts to assault the database. I was constantly sterilising code files on the server where errant code was getting in, the host company simply refused to do anything, they kept saying it was something I was doing wrong that led to vulnerabilities, they also stated categorically that vBulletin software was notorious for vulnerabilities. Then again, we are talking about a company who denied they had a security update to Cpanel that affected the vBulletin database security, who ever chose to target my site stepped up the assault and managed to perform mysql injections and also managed to gain access to the site itself, both in the member areas and the administration area. I don't have the finances to employ someone to secure the site from assault, the occurrences of attacks just exploded in a matter of minutes, one moment I posted a reply to Rob, the next I found myself looking at an erect male bit and a gaping girls bits, it was extremely disturbing. Seems once they got in they had a very good idea of what to get up to, I just don't have the strength to even attempt a conflict, finances aside, it is emotionally draining losing the site after so much effort I put in to reform it, I guess I must have really upset someone, the whole affair has left me feeling really horrible inside.

Really sorry to hear that.

What did they expect to gain?
All your fine work and some

Speaking with the Mrs, who has a much more level head than I, it seems more likely they have a 'BIG' forum in their sites and have probably chosen to attack smaller forums to find the weaknesses without drawing too much attention to themselves. It kind of makes sense to me I guess, if it weren't for my Mrs this sort of thing would drive me totally insane with paranoia, but she's right, why would they put so much effort into my puny little site as a major target. Doesn't make me feel any better mind. Sad

Lame! Sad Sorry to hear that, Kirk. I hope the guys that enjoyed the Cubby can hang out over here.

I still say don't give up, there's other options. Maybe not right now, but later down the road. You ran a good little forum. Sucks you became a target, though. I wouldn't take it personally, both of my websites have been breached and we had to sort it out. Not fun.

Cool
