One of the reasons why I'm enjoying the pipe so much is that I can set the pace for smoking it. If I want to smoke without interruption, I do. But if I don't I can let it go out, do something(s), come back and relight and enjoy it once again. Pipe smoking is civilized.

Also the pipes. They can be functional or beautiful, or both. The pipe is a bonus.

Lastly the tobacco. Yes, cigars have their flavors, but pipe tobacco has hundreds more varieties as well as many more major divisions. Also the fat cats commandeered cigar prices long ago. Yes their is the additional cost of rolling cigars and buying premium wrapper, but even so cigars are unjustifiably expensive. Though good $5 cigars exist, the more typical price is $7 or $8. That's one smoke. A tin is ~12 smokes for just a few dollars more, and bulk is 1/2 to 3/4s of that cost. Pipes are expensive but more or less permanent property; with care they last a lifetime.

Very well put. But I may disagree on the amount of Cigar tobaccos, I think unless I am missing something that there are just as many if not more than pipe tobaccos. Crillo, Crojo, Habano, Connecticut, Equadorian, Broad Leaf, Sumatra, Pilo De Oro, just to name a few. But the cost is something that as of late is a bit ridiculous, one cigar by Drew Estate that is a mixed filler (left overs from other cigars, or clippings) is going for 5$+. While each cigar is hand rolled and a bit more overhead is needed for a cigar factory cigar prices have skyrocketed in the last few years due to "Rockstar" branding and super secret rare one time limited edition tobaccos being used. That is what makes me more than happy to smoke my pipes, no B.S tobacco.

What I meant by pipe tobacco having more major divisions is:

Latakia
Oriental
Straight VA
VA/Burley/Perique

While recognizably belonging to the class "pipe tobacco," these four divisions are very different. Though I only smoked cigars critically for a year, I never found that big a difference between the tobaccos you mentioned as those claimed above.

Cigars have their flavors, but pipe tobacco has many more, and the amount of difference in these four divisions is, I think, much greater than criollo and corojo.

Yes, I see what you mean and agree 100%!

#!. All true when you love a pipe. Dad, Granpa and Santa Claus smoke pipes.

#2 A great cigar just rocks. At $5.00 it's an affordable man pleasure. Strong, sexy, tough men smoke cigars.

#3 Most men who smoke one, also smoke both. Both are just great with scotch, rum, gin, .....

#4. Smoke what you like, enjoy what you smoke. Many women complain about both so WTF, thank your lucky star that you were born a man.

Merry Christmas!

Cool

I don't consider myself particularly strong, sexy or even tough for that matter, but I do enjoy a good cigar and I definitely know a good one when I smoke it. Razz
