"BuckyBalls" are individual spherical (5mm. diameter...about the size of a kidney stone Shocked ) rare earth magnets (very strong). Get a bunch of them and you can form then into all kinds of geometric shapes. Incredibly therapeutic for people (like me) who are fascinated by such things.

At least one of the companies that manufacture BuckyBalls has been driven out of business by lawsuits. Stupid parents let their kids swallow them, and then sued the company. I swear I'm not making this up:

I remember hearing that those might be taken off the shelves. Never had a set, but I've seen a lot of cool things done with them.

Really expensive buckshot. Ballistically inaccurate due to proximital fields and magnetic declination. But loads of fun. Laughing

I suppose kids shouldn't have pocket knives any longer...oh wait...they can't...

That's oldthink. Get with the program. Your mission, whether you choose to accept it or not, is to take orders, Comrade. Everything will be either banned or mandatory, and you won't be allowed to leave.

    – Sign above an ant colony, The Sword In The Stone, by T. H. White (1938)

Sieg heil! Be a good little plebeian drone. Open your door to Big Brother...and then bend over. It's a small price to pay for the increasingly popular modus operandi of getting others to pay for your mistakes.

The banning of BuckyBalls is perfectly manifest of the problem. When people are not willing to take responsibility for their actions (and the actions of those whose care is entrusted to them...in this case, little kids), and use the state as their proxy to force others to accept the consequences of their irresponsible choices, then they lose freedom in exactly the same measure. Slowly, by degrees, we are becoming the ant colony.

Those who worship at the state's altar must feel all warm and fuzzy at the mere sound of the "Consumer Products Safety Commission"...gosh, it sounds so beneficent. "Only a godless scumbag could possibly object...", is the implication.

Yeah, right....

They'll be coming for our pipeweed soon... Mad
