first time drilling a block, first time cutting a stem. Greek briar, German cumberland ebonite. not sure what the shape is, really. i just kind of went for it. still shaping and sanding, got impatient so i sanded it and then in the last fw pics i wiped it with water to show the grain.

i think the shank needs to go down a little to be flush with the start of the stem from the bowl. not sure on that yet. also might take away the transition from shank to bowl on the sides a bit. i kind of like the flow, though. i don't know. all over the place of course. bounce

hopefully i can have more pics this weekend and finish it. sorry about the potatophone shots!

Done. The stem is a little thick. I rusticated the top of the bowl. Exactly 6" long, just shy of 2" tall in the bowl department. 3/4" chamber diameter.

I've got a long way to go. Need practice on stems for sure. Hand cut is hard. I like this one though. The next one will be better!

Hmmm....now what is on the floor in the background of the pics? The pipe looks darn nice brother, keep up the practice.

Looks good. I rather like what you did with the bowl's rim and the cumberland stem.

My heavens, that is a whopper (quiet Kyle!), love the grain on that pipe, shaping freehand is no easy task, looks like you're getting the hang of it alright, that stem is gorgeous too, I bet you're well chuffed, I know I would be, well done that man. Smile
