Whoa.... Shocked

My email failed to tell me there were any responses to this post. ...it does that some times. Imagine how surprised I was to see two pages of positive responses! Man, now I'm even more excited.

The bad part about doing these types of things though, is that it means 1 happy person Very Happy and a whole bunch of disappointed ones No .

I apologize for that in advance...

We won't be too disappointed, but will be extraordinarily happy for the lucky recipient.

I have only heard of this once before, when Tyler Lane Beard gifted someone a pipe during a Secret Santa. It's guys like you who renew my faith in humanity. Keep up the good work. A truly virtuous man!

Just for the record, and I'm not suggesting this applies here, but I have never liked the phrase "giving back." Did you steal something? is my usual riposte to a businessman or other successful person using it. Exactly when the phrase replaced "giving" is a mystery to me, but I do know why, in the unlikely event of anyone wanting me to elaborate.

I love the phrase, it acknowledges the reciprocal nature of human community, it says, "yes, there have been things that were in place that allowed me to succeed, and prosper, therefore I want to be part of preparing the way for others" So Tyler, and Growley, and Nate King and others help me with my pipes. When my skill set has improved, I recognize what was given to me, that I didn't earn by my own strength or tenacity, and I commit myself to giving back to the pipe making community by sharing with newbies. The phrase is wonderful to me.

Yes! I'll be loving reading a post from someone too excited and happy to sit still. Very Happy Generally the "I got bombed" -posts are among my favourite reads.

And +1 to anyone who says they've been already more than enough on the receiving end. My situation is the same as as theirs, can barely handle myself already with the incoming generosity. Embarassed

No.. I like it....

It is the Flamers trophy. It starts with a flame war battle royal and then like the WWE Championship must be defended at least once every 30 days...
We can even create a private forum and make people do "pay per view" for the matches.. I like it!!!!!!
