That's awesome, do you have any idea what you plan to do with it yet, I started to see if I could see any pipe in there that wanted to escape but then came to my senses realising it aint a block for me to ponder, really looking forward to seeing what you come up with, best of luck with it and enjoy the process. Smile

I've had a sick day! So I've spent all day trying different pieces on scraps of paper. I'm not to sure about what to do, seeing as this is my first pipe. I'm hoping to go with something pretty basic my first time in the game. Suggestions from experience are completely welcome Smile

Well, there's pipe carvers here, but largely it isn't a forum where too much procedural pipe-carving is discussed. There's always pipemakersforum.com, but those guys are danged serious, and might overwhelm your thoughts and efforts on how to approach, Trev.

What tools do you have? You'll be sanding and filing for the next ten years if that's all you're gonna use. Laughing

Nice hunk of briar there. I had a very similar one from Mark that had the same stem. Here's what I did with mine. Just to give you an idea for what you can do.

Yep, didn't color it at all. I'm letting the smoke do that work...it's turned a stained-cedar red since this picture.

You can do it, Trev.
