Looks good, Rev. A comfortable one in the hand if held by the palm, from the looks of it.

Ever consider doing a volcano, provided the briar was willing, with the plateaux on the rim? I haven't seen any like that, and I'm guessing the grain would be striking that way, especially since it tends to fan out in a semi-circle toward the plateaux. Hell, play around with your bleaching technique a little, you could make Mt. Fuji.

Cool

I have one volcano, and one freehand in the works and then its ten traditional shapes for me. So any of you wanting billiards, canadians, lovats, or brandy pipes get at me bros

However, I do like the idea of a Mt Fuji white volcano. I did seriously consider rusticating the top on this one.

Constructive suggestion: can you put some sort of stopper over the bowl (perhaps a cork) to prevent the stain from creeping into it? It would give the pipe a cleaner finish and show attention to detail.

doesn't work. I needed to get this pictures done immediately so I had to do it before I sanded the tobacco chamber. I put a stopper in, and it bleeds just a little bit like the pictures. That is because its a highly penetrative stain. In this case I had to ship it today, so I had to take pictures last night. It is sanded out clean now, and in a beautiful velvet bag on its way to the marine base in North Carolina

Yeah I have stuffed rubber stoppers into the bowls and it still seeps its way past them I have found it just as easy to use a artists brush and be careful around the rim with it does just as well.

I do like the way you used the natural curve of the plateau to make the bottom of the volcano, it gives it a nice organic look

I finished a dublin and an apple but can't seem to get a good picture of the the dublin, maybe I can get some and post them tonight!
