PostSubject: Spring/Early Summer To-Do-Lists   Thu Apr 04, 2013 11:41 am

I'm a "to-do" list person. Here in central Albeta, the Spring season slowly pushes away the remnants of Winter. It reminds me that there will soon be things to-do!

With a change of season comes a reminder to change the furnance filter! And check and clean the humidifier.

We still have a couple off feet of snow in our backyard... and a rather unpleasant task is revealling itself Mad . I went out looking for a rake (leaning on the fence near the small tool shed). It is still frozen solid in the snow bank. But I noticed the doggie has left his marks! I was determined to pick up behind him each few days this winter. But alas... winter's snow and cold came early this past season... so the crop is bountiful!

Our front yard (facing the south) is revealing some brown grassy areas so I just might buy a small rake to get a start on it.

We have a small property so it is manageable for me and made all the better when I can take a break once in a while, pat the dog, and puff on a well-used old corncob, often filled with left overs from the long winter here!

Planting season here is usually towards the end of May. By then, the frost risk is low. But that is another story...

Let's see. The snow is gone down here in the Deep South (Michigan is compared to Alberta!) though we've had eight inches of snow when the tulips were in full bloom.
1. Pick up broken tree branches - done.
2. Pick up some of the dog landmines - done.
3. Put away snow shovel, salt, roof rake - done.
To be done:
4. Empty gas and summerize snowthrower - to be done, no rush.
5. Put gas in lawnmower.
6. Fertilize shrubs.
7. Put summer stuff outside that has been in storage.
8. Set up wife's swimming pool.
9. Take down wife's swimming pool.
10. Stow summer stuff.
11. Take gas out of lawnmower, winterize.
12. Put gas in snowthrower.
13. Put out snow shovel. salt, roof rake.
Rinse, repeat.

My California to-do list for the month of April.

1) Dust off flip flops for the community pool.
2) clean sunglasses for maximum clarity (used to scan babes at community pool).
3) get pre-tan so I don't burn when sitting out for hours on end at community pool.
4) do the above last week, as pool season starts tomorrow (woulda started today but it's raining).
5) Stock up on charcoal for barbecue at the community pool.
6) ....... I'm sure there's something else that needs to be done around here, but I gotta prioritize Smile

Need to do the annual raking of the yard to get up all the twigs and pine cones. Probably take an hr. Need to do this before I have to do my twice annual mowing, since I have more moss than grass.

Then need to bleach my deck furniture. Been sitting out there all winter and it grows mold. Plastic table and chairs. Don't know why I do this as I never sit out there.

Plus going up on the roof and removing all the fir needles.

Just an annual thing and need a good mild day to do this.

Not too much work, but I hate yard work!

Cheers,

RR

Hmm, mine reads much like that and add in:
- trim cherry trees (done!)
- put snow blower away (change oil/add Stabil)
- mulch around the house
- change oil in mower, tractor, edger
- run edger around all mulch/flower beds
- regrout flagstone walk-way
- reapply grout to flagstone that the wife washes away with hose
- trim arbor vitea around the backyard (35, 20' tall bushes..)
- enjoy my pipe on the patio as much as possible inbetween!

Hey, good for you Yak, congratulations.
I worked my butt off today, mulch bed, mowed, washed the wife's truck. I did manage to squeeze in two bowls before/after. Back is killing me this evening.
