So yesterday after the festivities had drawn to an end, and my belly was full of wonderful thai food I went to the back porch to have a nice quiet end to the day. I packed my Tyler Lane bent egg with some Full Virginia Flake from 1999 that another member so graciously gave me a sample of. I had had this a couple of times before and man, it just doesn't get much better than this. This smokes so nice and dry, has a warm sweetness to it that just hits all the right spots for me. My palate isn't refined enough to tell you all the little nuances I can just say it tasted great. I had it with a sifter of Yamakasi 12 year single malt, and this was actually a pretty nice pairing. The Japanese whiskey is not as warm as a true Scotch and has none of the peaty smokiness, but did have a bright sweetness that didn't work with the tobacco but rather complimented through a slight contrast.
It was a wonderful hour of rev time.
