I love those kind of pix.  My uncle had an Mobil station like the one showing a Jeep with a plow.  It was pretty worn by the 1970's but it was near a big lake in PA (Harvey's Lake).  All the girls would drive out for gas in their bikinis, my cousins and I were in heaven, a great summer for a 14 year old boy......(I actually got to swim with a couple that summer)

Today, the travel plazas look like this and there's no bikini's in site...

Huh, my uncle's SUNOCO station looked like that one as well. Wonder if it was sold as something as a prefab?

Oh we're the men of Texaco.
We work from Maine to Mexico.
There's nothing like this Texaco of ours.
Sky Chief!  Fill up with Sky Chief

What is sad is that I can recognize more car models in that than  I can with all the cookie cutter car models out there today.

Oh, give me $2.00 regular and check the oil.

Well, Rad, we just proved that perception is generational.

It seems very evident in the difference between service station and gas station.

Lovely pictures. How is it I almost teared-up knowing these times are gone and feeling nostalgic without ever being there? Weird. Past-lives? 🤷

I have been through one place I saw in the pictures, and enjoying the old highway system (pre-Interstate)...it's getting a new lease on life, potentially:
