Briarbabe after reading this post I had to ask my wife if she was posting on here as you, cause she has told me the exact same thing as you typed, almost word for word, cept she doesnt use words like "snogging" and "blokes" those arent normal pennsylvanian words, from across the pond are you?

Dag! I kinda envy you bearded guys now. I can't really do the beard myself. No matter how I take care of it, mine comes in like a worn out Brillo pad.

I am struck dumb by this post.

Facial hair, pipe, & especially cigar smoke are the holy trinity of my wife's most hated list. lol!

Whereabouts in Upstate NY?

Seeing your current location, I guess it's safe to assume that you spend a lot of time at Boswell's???? I guess I have to grow my beard back before I go back down there!

As far as "Brit TV" goes, I still watch Eastenders!!!!
Mrs. Brown's Boys, originally RTE and now BBC, is also tops!!!!

Note: Comments from a "First generation Northern Irish-American" who grew up around all things Irish and English!
(PS: I despise "Hyphenated American" labeling,  I'm an AMERICAN, just using a descriptor to make a point......)

Oi!!!! So, do you prefer do be referred to as: "Byrd", "Twist and Twirl", or "Gooseberry Pudding".......choice is yours luv lol!

I'm originally from Unadilla, a ridiculously small town between Binghamton and Oneonta. I go back to visit occasionally and am always so sad to see how much it declines with each visit.

Ahh, if only my work schedule were conducive to spending lots of time at Boswell's, I'd be over every day after work just for the chance to de-stress. However, my kids and my time schedule don't allow for it. I have been thinking of stopping over every other Saturday morning with my coffee and pipe to sit a spell.

As for Brit TV I love some classic Monty Python, Are You Being Served, old Doctor Who (alright, alright, and the reincarnation right up until Matt Smith, ugh!), AbFab, the Eastenders, Top Gear, Fawlty Towers, I love some Blackadder, and Father Ted. I know I'm missing a few...I'm a bit of an Anglophile.
