PostSubject: New Pipe Rack   Mon Aug 05, 2013 7:15 pm

I decided to make my own pipe racks awhile back because the prices on new and used were just too stupid for me to afford. I got some black walnut, a bunch of volcanite saddle bits,  felt and a couple of dowels and slowly went to it and this is what came out of the dust. I made the bowls rests further apart so that larger pipes could sit next to each other easier and a bit taller to accept them also. I also lined the bowl rests with felt and put Velcro straps up for easy pipe removal on top shelf and so it would accept pipes with full bent stems without having to turn stems around. I had showed the finished product around on different sites and one of the fellas, maybe two wanted to see it with pipes in it. I don't know why, maybe they didn't believe I had enough to fill a 75 pipe, pipe rack. But as you can see I've got a little room left and I'm making two more so I have room to expand and maybe even get rid of a couple of 24 pipe, pipe racks. You see I have ten pipe racks 24's and 36's on the wall some full some only a few from full and I need room to expand and categorize, yeah it's an anal thing. Anyway, for those who are interested, here it is.
Oh! and may I add, this is only my second attempt at making pipe racks so please be kind.

Fine looking rack ya built...fine looking collection of pipes you have, sir.

I'd be proud to own either rack or pipes.

Seriously Ron, that's a very impressive accomplishment and you should be proud! You have some fine looking pipes there as well.

Great to see how handy you (and others) are with regards to projects such as these.

Thanks for sharing!

Very nice! I used a thin piece of elastic cord to keep pipes in my open slots (on modified racks).

Thank you Riff! I use to us rubber bands. LOL!
I like the way the Velcro works, each one is separate and overlaps the other. Quick and easy and you can use one hand.

Thank you all again for your wonderful compliments, now where did I put that hat stretcher?

JKenP, the rack is only about 2 1/2 foot off the floor and above it are 4 other pipe racks about 8 inches from the ceiling, I'm afraid I'm already there sir. LOL!
