Stained with Fiebing's Mahogany.  Does a fairly good job of hiding all those pits. Doesn't compare to that DSH Moon Surface pipe!

nice looking pipe! I personally like flaws as long as thy dont harm the the pipes function or shorten the life of the pipe, I think it gives a pipe a little bit of character.

Thanks guys. I have to say, that pipe was a challenge. The further I sanded, more pits showed up. It was definitely a Pit-A-Palooza piece of Briar. I might add too that getting the diamond shaped shank just right was a challenge in itself. I did over sand a little so now the stem will only fit one direction. In the pictures it looks like its not a flush fit. The stem is turned ever so slightly to one direction in them. Its actually one of the tightest shank/stem fits I've made to date. You can't feel anything running your finger over the point where they meet. I'm quite happy with how it turned out though. It was a tough one for me. Practice makes perfect.
