I'm going crazy thinking about the next pipe I want to make but I'm doing this stone carving and it seems like its taking forever. Hoping to have it finished tomorrow but that's probably not going to happen. I've got about 14-16 hours to go. I'm actually a little father than this pic shows, but this is at about 10hrs. into it.

The layout work took about 6hrs :/

Well it's finally done! After 44.5 hours and many lost weekends and a few evenings after working my regular job, it's done. I can't wait till they get it in its place and all landscaped around it. I will post a photo when that happens as well.

Thanks Brian, I wish I were a master at something :)I consider myself a jack of all trades and hope to be a master someday as a pipe maker and stone carver. Again hence the name Boulder & Briar Smile
I have work along side of a master though with 40 years as a carver. His name is Nicholas FairPlay. He is from England and has a resume that makes most other masters look like apprentice. Here's his link,

www.fairplaystonecarvers.com/

I almost took apprenticeship with him but due to having a family an needing to have a guaranteed income I regretably had to turn it down. He has a studio in Oberlin, OH about 5 minutes from my house and I stop in from time to time and even have helped on a few big projects he's done.

After taking a short break I have to remodel my bathroom, and then I can get back to making pipes Smile
I can't wait! The first 6 or so I do are all going to be classic english shapes.

LOL! No, not a headstone. Although I have, and probably will do some in the future. Hopefully not for a long time though.

That is some fine stone work, There's no room for errors in that trade. You are a master from my point of view. Thanks for sharing your work here. I can only imagine what the transition from stone to briar will be like.
