PostSubject: feelin blue   Fri Nov 08, 2013 11:10 am

I'm off work this week on vacation, planned to go steel head fishing in Erie, that plan faded out this past summer, but was ok with it, planned on doing some home improvements, and making a few pipes, and of course having enough time to enjoy a pipe when ever I want , well got the 1st project done, then i caught a bug, have been too sick to feel like doing anything else this week, I keep looking at my pipe rack and wanting to smoke but I know I will not enjoy it due to being sick.
Back to the grind on Monday
oh well such is life No

As a teacher, the school year builds up, and you are administering exams, giving grades, etc. It takes a lot out of you. Break would come, and it was like you had been hit by the bus. I would get sick and be in a foul humor every time. My wife on the other hand was all ready to go to see her family. I needed a couple of days of down time to recover before I could take a "vacation."

I am sorry to hear the plans did not go as expected...

An old Irish remedy used by a friend of mine from Dublin is to take a nd put a black dot about 1" dia on the wall opposite your headboard on your bed so that when you are in bed you can see it easily . Then you drink enough Irish Whiskey so that you see TWO dots. Keep this up for at least 48 hours and life will be better Twisted Evil  Twisted Evil  ( won't cure the cold, but you'll not be concerned with it while in your inebreated state Twisted Evil  Twisted Evil

recipe for a nice hot toddy

pour a cup of your favorite tea, add a shot of brandy or whiskey, the juice of a 1/4 lemon, a stick of cinnamon, six cloves, and some honey to taste

don't skip the cloves, in fact add more if you can stand the flavor

In my drinking days I've used that method a couple of times.......even when I wasn't sick.

Funny you mention that the steelhead outing is tomorrow but we had to cancel, the girl who works at our shop lost her father Wednesday, now the Wife is covering for her while she is off and I am sick so we had to cancel that as well

Things will get better they always do!

well then, you'll have to just get to looking forward to the next trip to the water. There's always another one coming down the line, right?

Ever read any John Gierach? Or there's a great anthology called "Hemingway On Fishing." Whenever I'm too sick to do anything and feeling down I take comfort in shared fish tales from those more eloquent than myself. Hot toddy, good book, maybe a warm blanket and a fire if it's cold enough out. It's all about weathering the storm.

This!

Sometimes it's nice to be sick so the sig. other can take care of you. Hell, in an ever busy world it's hard enough to get time together.
