This was a neighbor's yard. Power was briefly out, but the winds seem to have subsided.

I ran home after the three services, and I am about to eat some dinner before getting my daughter from orchestra practice and then heading off to see a performance of the Messiah. The weather adds some adventure to the day. The street was flooded when I got home - probably over a foot. Lesser vehicles might have been discouraged, but the '98 Suburban took it in stride. It seems that a dock was blown away from the other side of the lagoon and washed up in our back yard...

I'm glad your family was safe. I was watching the Ravens lose in
Chicago. The weather there delayed the game nearly two hours and it looked pretty fierce.

YIKES!

Stay safe Padre, and all others in the area.

I'm all too familiar with windstorms and the damage they do, power outtages, and the like!

Evil or Very Mad

Cheers,

RR

I am home again. The Messiah was wonderful. It is still pretty gusty, but the worst of it is past.

You know it's serious when they postpone a NFL game. Looked like some really wicked weather. Good thing you still got to make the Messiah. Must have been an excellent performance. Who performed it?

The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (a convent) got a grant to provide this at Ancilla College. Admission was free and it was preformed in the giant Ancilla Domini Chapel. The singers included about a dozen friends of mine who are in the Community Chorus or teach voice locally. A couple of them were former students of mine. The instrumental music was done by the South Bend Chamber Symphony. Soloists were from the Chicago Lyric Opera Chorus.

I got there as early as I could, hoping to get a decent seat. I settled for a folding chair on the floor. Five minutes later, one of the sisters came up and asked if I would be willing to move to the balcony to open a seat for an older person who could not navigate the stairs. The balcony seat was probably a better one.
