Glue? Empty
PostSubject: Glue?   Glue? EmptySun Mar 16, 2014 10:25 pm

This is probably a frequent newbie DIY question:
What do you use to glue together parts of a pipe? The glue has to be heat stable and non-toxic. Most of the aliphatics (Titebond, etc) are not great at higher temperatures. Resorcinol? CA?

It would depend on what parts of the pipe your trying to put together.
Stem and tenon you can use epoxy or CA depending on the material.
Stummel shank you can use epoxy as long as it's not too close to the bowl, anything concerning the bowl I would not attempt and buy a new pipe.
Oh! if it's a cob and the shank is loose from the bowl, carpenters glue/ white glue/ Elmer's will work fine, just don't get messy with it. I wouldn't want to smoke the stuff.  Wink
