A co-worker wanted a churchwarden so I sat down with him and he told me what shape, etc... and this is the outcome.

This is 1 I made for fun, the stem is a red/black Cumberland that has a nice stripes in it (hard to see in pics).

Thanks for looking.

P.S.
I'm not a photographer!!  lol!

Good stuff Crafty. I especially dig #2. Great flame grain on that one!

 Cool

Cheers,

RR

Really superb work Crafty! Love the church warden and that's saying something as I just don't care for them in concept. The rustication is very elegant and restrained, I like it. #2 has some super grain. Whatever you did to it really made it pop. Look forward to seeing more of your stuff.

Churchwardens aren't my thing, but the bowl on that first one is wonderful! I'm drooling as it is, but if that bowl was on a 3/4 or 1/2 bent, I'd by sick with envy!!!

I love the birds eye, too...I know straight and flame grain are all the rage, but I'm just as fond of (and maybe more so) a good birds eye, especially when it pops like that one.

Thanks guys. I've really enjoyed the learning process in pipe making. It's totally different than furniture making. So far the hardest part I've found is getting the true flush fit between stem/stummel, I always seem to have an area that has a hairline space were they don't mate up flush. I'll keep working it and get it figured out sometime.
