From the C&D website.

Quote :
Oak Alley rounds out C&D’s Cellar Series trio, and begins with an impeccable partnership between sweet red Virginias and white/brown Burleys, discrete amounts of Perique and Katirini Turkish are then added to enhance flavor, as well as promote the coolest smoke imaginable.

For me, this stuff is mana from the Gods.  Long lasting bowls that have a good Turkish aroma and taste.  Not like what Izmir does to a blend.  In fact, this stuff can make a man cave pretty much inaccessible for the non-smoking member of the family.  I find a lot of similarities to Pirate Kake, but not so heavy on the Latakia.  Edit: This isn't supposed to have Latakia in it.  It's tricking me somehow. It's fantastic now, for me.  It's dominated now by the Katirini Turkish.  But there is more going on and what that may end up being in a decade could be very different.

So...it always ticks me off when no word of Latakia is mentioned, yet when you pop the lid, there it is. How much of a presence is there?

Good point. I made an assumption. Which in all likelihood is wrong. There is an amazing similarity to Pirate Kake. Maybe it's the type of Turkish, or a combination that tricks the mind. It's got a smokey aspect to it. We all know Pirate Kake is a Latakia powerhouse. This isn't like that. So maybe there really isn't any Latakia in this at all. You sure cannot tell by looking. It's a plug style, easily crumbled. Mixture of black & brown. Leave the man cave for a few minutes and come back and you will swear there is a bunch of guys down there smoking old style Camels.

I bought five tins each of Oak Alley and Chenet's Cake when they came out.
I opened a tin of Oak Alley a week or so ago.  It's terrific!
Shouldn't have waited four years to find out I wanted more.   Laughing
This week, I found myself smoking a bowl of Oak Alley at Oak Alley.   Cool

Just popped another tin at five years; I really like this one.
Smokingpipes had a sale on C&D and I added another pound an a half.
