In my experiences with concerts, you don't go for the music, you go for the experience.

That's the ticket Buddy, of all the places and gigs for this to happen but I met the best friend I have ever made at a Bad Manners gig in the late 80's, who would ever expect to find such people at such concerts, me that's who, yep you get the knuckle brigade who are incapable of any rational thought but the vast majority of folks at any gig are there for the comradery experience not just the music, if it were about the music we'd all just buy CD's and there'd be no gigs. Social Spirit is an awesome thing to feel and it is something everyone should experience, the raw living energy in the crowd at a Metal Gig is mind blowing, I've been to Ballet, Orchestral concerts and Skin-head gigs and everything in between and I have never felt anything as awesome as the vibe at a Metal Gig.

Is it bad that I like Iron Maiden, Gwar, and the like? (Only a few of us are pipe smokers in this fan base).

I am a huge fan of Metallica (the Black Album and the S&M album with the San Francisco Philharmonic Orchestra are the two best IMHO). Pure Bloody Genius if I say so myself. I like AC/DC, Ozzy, and many others. I am a bit of an ecclectic as well. I like Dave Matthews, Black Eyed Peas, Darude, and even Big Smo. I also can't forget the good Country like Willie Nelson, Cash, Alan Jackson, George Strait, and many others.

Last concert I went to was with my wife... Rod Stewart. Ugh. But, she was super happy with it. That's all that matters. Heck, I even went to an opera with her. My ears were bleeding and I had a migraine when we left, but she was happy. (joking about the bleeding ears, but not the migraine).

They are the only group I would go to see again, except for the Eagles, of course.

Speaking of The Eagles, there's a documentary out about them, I believe I caught it on Netflix. Holy Moly, talk about band drama. Glenn Frey and Don Felder were mortal enemies. Seriously great band biography, though.

Two of my favourite bands right here in this thread; Pink Floyd and (sorry Mike!) Fleetwood Mac.  One of my go to albums of the moment in fact is the Best of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac.  There's lots of their old work in it with tracks such as Albatross and the wonderful moving and somewhat haunting Man of the World.  Highly recommended.

Beautiful (IMHO)

I honestly thought that they played the same song 8 or 9 times, but my wife assures me they were different "hits."

Good assessment of most popular music.
