Well, with temperatures in the teens or lower, can't seem to bring myself to work my tools outside to make pipes, so puled some leaf from the storm cellar and started blending. Trying my hand at Vapers, Balkans and some English blends. Found my tube press was still loaded with what I call 'Grandpa's Sweater'. I put it in on September 11th last year. It is awesome! Basically a crumble cake recipe, but this batch having been in the press for an extended time I could use a fillet knife and cut medallions. It contains Black Cavendish, stoved burley, Cyprian Latakia, Perique, and a light amount Flued Virginia.

Yup, tried A Vaper blend I just stuffed into a ball jar for a couple of weeks and it wasn't bad. Never leaned towards Virginias before, they seemed a bit tart for my tastes. I have since learned, through making pipes and experimenting with bowl size and stem apertures I found if I draw slower I get a different result. The recipe is as follows...

4 parts bright VA
1 part stoved VA
1 part perique
1 part Maryland flake

It's mostly light coloured. I mixed it, nuked it for ten seconds, and stuffed it into a half pint ball jar. Tossed it into the cellar. It's sweeter than I thought it would be, and a good nicotine push. Kind of a maply undertone, probably from stoved VA. I am going to try some VA I slightly "Cavandished" that has sat about for a couple of years in the mix next. Not sure of the ratio I should try. Any thoughts?

Guess I could make one, but that would be an all day event to smoke! That chunk is still giving me pipe loads. The one in the picture weighed almost two ounces.

My email address is Thirdearlkauff@aol.com. Email an address and I'll toss a chunk in the post. If it fits, it ships, right? It would be nice to get some input on my blending attempts, other than my own pallet..
