Found this photo over on the Shorpy site of a 1940 Pontiac 4 door sedan and thought folks might find this "see thru" interesting !! I did as it's the year and model of car my father drove when I was born in '46 !! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Guess I'll need to get one to match my BY Dunnie and Barlings !!  Twisted Evil  Twisted Evil

Pretty cool Michael. I love cars from this era.

I clearly remember my grandparents on my Mom's side owning a Pontiac that certainly must have been from this period. I was just a child but do recall it had running boards and a big flying Eagle hood ornament. Always will remember that hood ornament!

This was prolly the late 50's but the memory is as clear as day. The car was well worn and the paint was a deep blue, faded and cracking. The seats were a light brown fabric and smelled musty. I know this as I often fell asleep in the back seat listening to my folks and the grandfolks chatting about stuff I wasn't old enough to understand.

I'll always cherish those memories, including and especially that car. I actually once had a hood ornament that resembled that from my grandpa's car, since it reminded me of those carefree days!

Good stuff! Love to own one of those today, but as I'm no ace mechanic it would be totally impractical.

What a Face

Cheers,

RR

Ah Wow! That's a beaut.......I want one!
I had several Pontiac's and love both of them. Had two 65 Pontiac Catalina's,
one two door and a four door with AC. The two door had a 389 with tri-power and a turbo 400 trans.
Use to Sh*t and git to say the least, the only car I've ever had up to 120 MPH.
Went through two rear ends in that beast when they said it couldn't be done.
I miss it to this day. Sad

Those were neat ! I remember the one like that, that was on a '49 Pontiac Chief my dad's younger brother had back in the '50s. At night when you turned the headlights on, a small bulb in the mount went on and lit the head up !! As I recall though his did not have those "wings" on it rather his "headress' was styled to run back into the chrome strip that ran along the hood center on top! As I remember it had a straight 8 engine that seemed to be the longest engine I'd ever seen !! 'Course that was when they made REAL cars! They were HUGE, had LOTS of real chrome, got 10 mpg on .15 cent/gal premium gas and had all Amurican drum brakes all around !! A REAL car !! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Love the old Pontiac's with the light up Indian head hood ornament. My dad restored one back in the early 70's. Then sold it to a friend for less than he had in it. The friend turned around and sold it for 10x what he gave my dad. I don't think he ever talked to him again after that. Lol.
