Both are really nice, well done Richard!

Thanks yall I was chasing little sand pits on the top pipe and thought I would try a something a little different it was a lot of fun and a royal pain in the backside but at the end of the day I still had a great time, thank you all again for the kind words.

Best Regards
Richard

I like unconventional stains. That one is no exception. Very nice job. But that other one is ringing all my bells!

That chisel work or whatever it is is sexy, and I can't explain why. Reminds me of the old CustomBilts. It would be cool to see a pipe like yours with the carving extended right into the stem and terminate there instead of the shank. Perhaps with a tapered Cumberland or tortoise shell stem?

As I already said I do like the green pipe. The more I look at it the more I like it. The grain really makes a nice appearance in that stain. Was a contrast stain used or is it one tone of stain? Really attractive.

Thank you for the feedback I will indeed give it a try on my next pipe.

Best Regards
Richard

It is a contrast I start out by applying a black and letting it set over night I then sand most of the black off then apply the green.
here is another one I did last time I was home with a green Cumberland style stem

Thank you again

Best Regards
Richard

Very nice. I did one contrast stain, black under a thinned out oxblood which became an almost purple. Kaitlyn will be working to pretty up the rest of that pipe shortly. I'll try to remember to post a pic in the photo gallery. I did one solid ox blood pipe and didn't contrast but am still pleased with it though I prefer the other. I'm an amateur pipe ruiner. Laughing

I have noticed on my darker stains I do like to go over it with a virgin/yellowish stain witch makes the grain pop. I to have ruined a many a good briar.

Best Regards
Richard
