My Humidor-racks Empty
PostSubject: My Humidor-racks   My Humidor-racks EmptyWed Jun 03, 2015 2:59 pm

Well I must be in the right place cause I love pictures and I have many. These pictures will be of my beautiful Humidor-rack collection. This may take a few days to get them all photographed and posted, but be assured they will get better and more extravagant with each photo.

I will start off with the basic green-glass Fairfax.

My Humidor-racks 20140325_175125

This one is a standard Brown-glass Dun-Rite.

My Humidor-racks 20140325_175314

Of course no collection could be a collection without some Bakelite (the time before plastic).

My Humidor-racks 20140325_175549

This one is one of my favorites and the very first one I ever purchased, the Swiss Chalet.

Nice collection Johnny. Especially like the Swiss Chalet. Looks as though you favor straight billiards.

Question - what is the pipe in the Bakelite pic second from left? I have a GBD pot with a similar finish.

Cheers,

RR

Love these old pieces of vintage collectible tobacciania. These size racks are usually perfect for flake pipes, especially ones with round bowls and standard length stems. cheers cheers cheers

Wow, nice collection!
Are the book holders divided into separate compartments for different blends?
Did you restore any of these or bought as-is?

Great humidors! I will say one thing about the celluloid one though. Be very, very careful with it. Heat causes rather rapid degradation. Open flame near it could be an absolute disaster. I had an ember fall out of my pipe onto a celluloid straight razor handle I was sharpening. It burst into flames. I put it out quickly but it definitely left permanent damage.

Best
Jim

Yes it actually came with a combustion warning.

I thought I would post a couple more before I head out today.

This one is a leather bound 10 holder handcrafted by CR of California.

Another one of my favorites, made in Italy the humidor lid is a Swiss REUGE music box that plays when removed.

My Humidor-racks 20150608_094716

This one is quite rare, when its humidor is opened it plays "Old Man River".

This next one is French Art from the 1940s, the head of the bird is actually a Becasse pipe.

My Humidor-racks 20150608_095535

I suppose I will throw in a few pipe holders too.

This one is the rare BROWN BREASTED PIPE TAIL bird.

I purchased this one because it looks cool and I happen own a flintlock.

I recognise the term "Becasse" as a woodcock. And that's from my fond visits to Cafe Becasse in Brussels, just off the Grand Place. Wonderful olde worlde cafe/pub with spectacular Belgian sour beers. Classic experience!
