It was suggested that cigars may be a better hot weather choice for smoking....

Of course, I know, Cubans rolled on the thighs of virgins should be my first choice......

Any other suggestions?

Wiz, if you enjoy Connecticut wrappers, warm weather is definitely more friendly to the fragile wrapper than the winter months. I will usually always pass on a Connecticut when it is cold outside, even when smoking indoors, due to their wrappers tendency to crack when the cigar expands about an inch behind the burn line.

Also, even though I don't care too much for the mongo ring gauges, they can be a better choice in hot weather since they allow much more airflow thru the cigar, and smoke a little cooler.

In addition, any cigars rolled on the thighs of virgins are preferable, don't necessarily need to be Cubans. Wink

Hey Oz,

If you are looking for mild to medium smokes that almost never disappoint and are generally easy on the wallet I recommend anything by CAO. They are readily available, generally high quality and they have a lot in their line-up so you can have fun trying all the different ones.

I also recommend Punch. My favorite brand. They are on the stronger side of things flavor wise. I consider them a friend with personality. Rich at 4 Noggins stocks the London Clubs, petit Coronas which at 55 for a box of 25 you can't wrong.

I have always enjoyed Arturo Fuente Curly Head Maduros. They're cheap and tasty. I believe they're grand reserve seconds. They taste and smoke just as good, but they're not pretty enough to be fitted with a band and sold for full price

Two that I have really been enjoying lately. The Leaf by Oscar Sumatra, and the Alec Bradley Nica Puro. The first is a little hard to find and a bit pricey, but I think it is an extraordinary cigar. The second is reasonably priced and tasty withou being overpowering. Both are good summer smokes IMO.I have a few boxes of the leaf, so pm me an address if you want to give it a try Wiz.
Mike.

I think the obvious choice for outdoor hot weather smoking is ... shorter smokes. I don't know many who can enjoy a Churchill sized cigar when it's 95 degrees in the shade. So to me pipes are more ideal than cigars since you can chose small pipes or partial loaded bowls. Still, if you have a taste for cigars, then grab your favorite small vitola, a cold beverage and enjoy the summer while it lasts.

Smaller bowls has been a regimen of mine for sure, and plenty of water.......
