PostSubject: Wizard Whale Watching Blend    Sun Sep 06, 2015 4:55 pm

So there I was, sitting on a private deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean...just settled in after a fine lunch of thin sliced sirloin, onion and blue cheese on Sourdough bread...with a pint of Rogue NEW CRUSTACEAN BARLEYWINEISH IMPERIAL IPA SORTA...from the growler in the fridge...and a fresh pipe in hand.

And what a pipe it is. An Ozard Wizard of Osage Orange. And filled to its little brim with a Wizard blend called Caliope's Choice. Custom all the way. Now I have no idea what's in there but to my tired buds (which are seldom correct) it has the ring of an American old school recipe (VA & Burley) with a hint of Cavendish that carries notes of cocoa/vanilla but very, very subtle...just enough to take the edge off. Then in the background and peeking out here and there there's the slightest hint of Latakia...very condimental. Easy to light and keep lit. Burns down with good manners. Very nice.

Then off across the break, the white puff of a spout. A Grey Whale, migrating, stopping to feed. Through my binoculars I can see the top of its back rolling, and occasionally its tail. Very fun sighting. Inspiring.

So it might be Caliope's this or that on the label, but to me it'll always be Wizard's Whale Watcher. So there.

FYI: vacations are good.

Great images/description Dave. Wish I could've been there.

Yes, Ozzy's blends are like that. Had a few myself. He certainly knows what he's all about!

Cool

Cheers,

RR

Some folks really know how to live. I'm envious Dave. Anyone who can watch whales from their front porch has life by the cajones. cheers
