Needs more sanding, but it's air tight and still able to take a pipe cleaner without a hitch.

Next is the bowl, and how to thread them together......

Hell, I aint nobody. Just some damn redneck mak'en pipe turds.
You could put all I know about pipe making in a shot glass and there wouldn't be enough to wet the bottom.

If that's all one piece then I'd love to know how you got the hole through it. It has a lot of potential. Looking forward to seeing the finished pipe. Smile

Thanks guys, it's a new 'bend' for me twisting a piece of wood that hard. Pictures will be provided on this thread as work progresses. Been focusing on the bowls, (yes, bowls, I can decide if I like the black walnut, the cherry or the Osage Orange, and the shapes are dogging me, as I thread my stems to the bowls, and one shape I thought was too close to the stem, so another needed a bit of a neck, but that one seemed kinda long, so I am carving a third that seems to be in the Goldilocks Zone.

We'll see, at least I'll have a couple of spares....

Rande, thanks for the compliment on the wolf carving, I'm working on stuff for the grandkids, each of them have favorite animals...

Decided on the bowl, after scouting about in the wood barn for other materials, I found a piece that called out. Got it roughed out, but then I thought there was too much light wood, so made a double male end threaded piece of Black Walnut to tie the stem to the bowl. It all works, now just a butt load of filing and sanding to smooth things out.......

Especially considering you're encountering new ground as you go and solving the problems....knocking 'em down like cards...

That is a total friggin' work of art! I haven't been this impressed with a NEW pipe maybe ever!

Now THAT'S a WIZARD if I've ever seen one. Just wow!

cheers cheers cheers
