Just did an annual order of aromatic blends. Doesn't take much to do me for a long while. Just every now and then it's nice to have something mindless to while away an hour or so.

2 oz each of Lane BCA, RLP-6 & LL-7. All in the same family...all pretty much bulletproof.

Will likely add a like amount of McClelland No. 401 Darkest Caramel when it comes in again.

That'll do.

One time I visited the Dunhill store in downtown San Francisco. I was a newbie and wanted some REAL Dunhill stuff. Everything smelled like a sour dead campfire except one. It was wonderful. I had 'em put it in a cool Dunhill tin box and proudly carried it away. Later I found out it was a renamed bin of Lane 1Q. What a hoot. Most expensive 1Q in the whole world no doubt. But I still treasured it. It smelled so fine. I still like a nice aro now and then. The three I picked are, to me, the easiest ones to get along with of any. And with Fall and Winter looming large...I need something that I can get away with without setting up the big window fan to suck the telltale aromas outside. With these I can start a nice fire and plunk myself down with a good book...and if 100% isn't cleared, no one bitches. Much. They certainly have their place. Walk down the street puffing any of 'em and EVERYBODY smiles.

That's an awesome story, I love it. I was no stranger to 1q early on either. I didn't pay nearly what you must have but I did buy it from a b&m so it was renamed charmingly and I didn't realize I had already been smoking it when I started getting curious about this popular blend I was hearing about. I like the occasional aromatic but so far have been getting by on stuff I've gotten in bombing and trades. With the exception being Larsen's LE 2015 which I purchased.

BH and Aros?

Say it ain't so...............

Wink

Actually I do remember you being a fan of Sammy G's Firedance. That's what put me onto it. Call it a guilty pleasure. Occasionally, mind.

I really envy you guys that can enjoy an aro now and then. I have the same issue with aromatic tobbaco that I have with flavored coffee in that they all taste the same to me and its not a plesant taste. Curse my broken taster.
Enjoy BH!
Mike.

MM - there's a whole lot of Aros out there that SHOULD be avoided...for sure. But there are a few that offer significant goodness.

As added examples, I just added a half dozen sample sized blends form Milan...chief among them is Sunset Rum...universally beloved for sure.

And this morning I snagged three McClellands from 4 N's...

Bulk: 2000: FRAGRANT MATURED CAKE
Bulk: 620: MOCHA BLACK
Bulk: 401: DARKEST CARAMEL

All told, a dozen different brands ordered, total weight a little over a pound. Enough for me for a couple years. And since most of the stuff has a half life of, like, centuries...I might even have some of this in my will. What a lovely legacy. Well enough of that. Depressing. Yeesh!

I still enjoy my aros from time to time, something sweet and generally low in nicotine.

Of the ones I've tried Lane seems to make the better ones, though Dan's Devil's Holiday really swings for me....

Got a sample of C&D's Autumn Evening a while back, and dip into that occasionally. That's yummy too...

Good for you BH, keep those horizons wide!!!

It's hard to beat RLP-6, BCA & LL-7 from Lane, I agree. They kind of define what a good American Aro is all about. There's a lot of drek out there, seriously nasty sh#@. But while most B&M's sell re-named Lane rebranded with their own names, there are smaller blender's that do really good work..

Milan's Sunset Rum is famous and they make a number of other good ones. McClelland makes good bulk & tinned stuff and so does Cornell & Diehl and Pipes & Cigars. Smaller blender's...like Carole at Pipe Works & Wilke...Uhle's...Bowell...House of Calabash...Park Lane...etc. have quality products. So many amazing blends available out there. Thank God for the internet!

Just added three more...and the roll is over. That's it!

Mac Baren 7 Seas Black

Scotty's Bulk Blends - Butternut Burley

Sutliff Blacksburg

That should do me for the next five to ten years. Wink

Every time I smoke McC's FM 2000 I wonder why anyone in command of their skull would want a more aromatic blend than this. But then, there's C & D's Autumn Evening. I feel your pain and sympathize.

Yeah, I got some FM2000 as well. Pretty classic stuff. As they say...fragrant!
