"Greatest Military Marches - The Very Best Of John Phillip Sousa". Performed by The United States Marine Band.

Might seem a bit odd, but I've always loved marches. Grew up playing them in school bands starting in the 4th grade. Did the marching band thing too many times. First playing tenor sax, then Sousaphone for most of the school years!

Roger Waters - Radio K.A.O.S. on the turntable.

I ordered up a new belt. Decided the Audio Technica AT-95e was probably nearing a stylus replacement. It's been several years since this table replaced the DUAL's. I have a bunch of stereohedron styli for Stanton 681 and Pickering XV-15 cartridges, so I opted to change out the cartridge. The Stanton 681 introduced a low-level hum. So I switched to the Pickering. The AT had seemed to be a pleasant cartridge, and it is. But this table really came alive with this old Pickering. There is a reason that these were the standard of radio station turntables for many years.

My oldest friend Jeff recently burned me some blues CDs. Great stuff - old Paul Butterfield and 2 discs of Chicago Blues featuring many classic old blues artists. Great stuff!

Just got in the new Vasen CD "Brewed" and it's another great collection of tunes. (No it doesn't refer to brewing as in beer).

My oldest friend in the whole world just sent me Zepplin's '12 Celebration Day live concert in London, which I'm listening to right now. Zep rocked my world back in the day and I saw them live in '69 and '70. Huge influence to say the least. Great that they're still rockin' and can tear it up. Geezer rock at its finest!

cheers

Taste, from the '69 release. Another CD my oldest bud burned for me, but I actually still have the LP I got back in the day. In fact my band back then performed several tunes from this album. Rory Gallagher was a fine guitarist and vocalist!

Yanni, Live at the Acropolis. Don't knock it until you sit back and listen to the entire album. The acoustics were phenomenal at the Live Show in Greece. I'm using my Skullcandy Earbuds with noise cancelling. These earbuds were made in limited quantity and by far the best sounding earbuds I've heard to date.

"The Very Best Of André Rieu"

Laugh if you want, but I do love Viennese Waltzes. I grew up exposed to a great many musical styles and started playing piano at age 5 around 1957. Thus, I was exposed to traditional American folk songs, classical, waltzes, old standards, and much else.

Additionally, I performed in the grade school concert band from the 4th grade onwards. We played a great variety of styles from classical to contemporary, waltzes to marches, etc. So I have an appreciation for many styles.

The music of André Rieu is like an old trusted friend, and is very soothing. It works for me.

Cheers,

RR

Since I lived in Europe back in the 80's and fell in love with Bagpipes, this group here in the States has become my favorite.
Every year each town from The Island of Malta would have a festival and there own marching band. I always looked forward to sampling the foods from each individual town and the Bagpipers band competitions at the end of the festival season. Those days are surely missed.

Paul Revere & The Raiders Greatest Hits.

Laugh if you want, but this band was my favourite in the mid-60's when everything was pop-rock. Even more so than the Fab Four, which didn't come into play with me in a more serious way for a few years later. So I can say that Paul Revere and the Raiders dominated my early development when I was coming up as a bass guy in my guitar development.

Their tunes were well constructed - great hooks, memorable melodies, and the vocals were spot on - and this was way back before autotune was even thought of! Mark Lindsay remains one of the best pop vocalists IMHO.

Anyway, enjoying this CD. And I do also have their original LPs, but these are sadly fraught with many skips and scratches from my days when I was doing "needle drops" to learn the parts.

Cheers,

RR

ALSO A BIG FAN AND HAVE THE CD ^^^^^

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

As for me I was never a fan of the Beatles, maybe because I heard many of the same lyrics over and over in their songs. Was that just me??? At the time I was very much into The Dave Clark Five.... Bit and Pieces, Because and Glad all Over. Extremely upbeat music.
Now, Paul McCartney and Wings I listen to often. I still remember Linda on the keyboard and the drummer Denny Seiwell. He was a blast when we had a drum battle at the old CBGB's in the Village, NYC. In the mid 70's through the 80's CBGB's was the ARENA for up and coming musicians. The place was known for it's Band Battles every Friday night.

That's where I also met Blondie, from the first time when I saw her step on stage at CBGB's I knew she was not just a one hit wonder. Boy, she could hold her liquor....lol. I miss those days but have some wonderful memories!!
