PostSubject: Mac Baren Vanilla Cream   Sun Jan 24, 2016 4:18 pm

A few years ago whilst on a trip to Berlin I picked up a tin of McB's Vanilla Cream, Loose Cut, as 'company friendly' baccy for when the situation demanded.  I took advantage of the cheaper continental prices and bought a 100g tin which is unusual for me; Blighty prices require that I am far more frugal.  I popped it open a few weeks ago and was surprised how dry the mixture was, it certainly being the driest McB's offering I've had to date.  It was too dry for my liking - it fell way short of being able to clump - so I rehydrated it in a mason jar.  Has anyone else experienced this with this brand? I wasn't expecting it to be so dry so wondered if it was a one off.

I'm not familiar with it. How was it once you rehydrated it?

... as you'd hope it to be. Smoked wonderfully; smokey, creamy, great taste for an aro - vanilla was sweet but not overpowering like other vanillas. No bite, but could imagine that if you really stoked it, it would produce a nip.

I've never had MB vanilla cream but I'm thinking since you had the tin for a few years maybe it dried out?

Hey Bugs. I'd tend to agree with you but the seal on the tin was intact so the conditions inside the tin should have remained constant?

I'll have to give it a try, as I'm out of Classic Vanilla, which is one of the few aro's I smoke. I'm usually a Lat fiend.

I've been looking for a strong vanilla blend, GH brown flake vanilla is one of the best blends ever, best vanilla in the world unfortunately it's only available in Europe right now. I've been looking for a similar blend, considered MB Vanilla flake but the tin is so womenly...plus some posters here said it doesn't taste. The GH vanilla flake is real tasty anyone smoked it

Over on the other forum, there was a thread about it, and one guy said it was the worst tongue bite he had experienced to date.

Tried it once and found it soapy. Gifted it away. Not my cup-o-tea.

Cheers,

I only bought it in pouches, and it was not dry, nor moist. Yes, like all light coloured leaves, it can bite if you are not careful with your smoking cadence.
Soapy, no, not for me, but the casing was fairly strong and did smother the taste of the tobacco. However, it can be a good aromatic for an experienced smoker that prefers mild aromatic tobaccos.
