APS-C sensor size mirrorless cameras like my Sony Alpha a6000 have one issue, or one major issue..?a lack of good glass specifically designed for them. I was lucky to find perhaps one the the best on eBay a few days ago. Retail set at $300 with a common street price of $250 new, I found a mint used one on eBay for $160 which included a $30+ German B+M clear UV filter. The lens is a Sony 50mm f1.8 WITH the optical stabilization. SCORE.

Camera body with standard kit zoom lens attached and new 50 mm posed next to it for size comparison.

Is your conversion factor on your camera 1.6x? That turns a 50mm 1.8 into a killer portrait lens.

The commonly used crop factor for full frame to APS-C is 1.5...so that makes the 50mm equivalent to a 75mm. Yes, very nice portrait lens with supposedly lovely bokeh blur. But there are a fair number of other applications as well. It's considered a mid range telephoto...and you also have to convert the f1.8 by the 1.5 crop factor, so it ends up as f2.7...still fast for a camera that can do ISO 1600 with NO grain in the image. Even 3200 is quite usable. So, a great low light system all around. Night Vids taken with it are pretty amazing.

I was actually planning to pick up the Sigma 30mm f2.8 (one of the 3 Sigma lenses for APS-C) that are so-o-o-o highly rated and for a $200 new price just a stellar deal. But when I saw this one for $160 I knew it was a jump now or never deal. So I did.

Nice.

Same idea, different platform. I use an Olympus E-pl2. I have a 14-42kit lens that 'good enough' and a prime I forget the number of that I used to drag out and take 9,000 lovely flower pictures no one wanted to see.. Lol
