| I knew the value of our currency was dropping but didn't realize it had gotten to the point one could take a chop saw to a beech dowel and start selling em as tampers for $12+ with the s&h http://www.ebay.com/itm/BEECH-WOOD-SMOKING-PIPE-TAMPER-NEW-PERFECT-/310808507691?hash=item485da1752b:g:tt4AAOxy3zNSl8bx |

| Looks like those they hand out at pipe smoking contests. Most of that seller's stuff is slightly "fringey," if that's a word. I like the fly ashtray, actually, and just might buy it unless someone more depraved than I beats me to it. The shipping cost rankles, though...

| That's what unscrupulous people do. $3 for a dowel and $9 to ship it, I wonder where he's making the more profit. |

I would have been less taken back by this if a little of the profits had gone to some light grade sand paper to remove those rotational tool marks up the sides. |

| Yeah Zero...that was my feeling on this. If only someone had let all the pipe and accessory makers know this what people really wanted. |

| A hunk of dowel makes a nice tamper. Not at that price, though. Unless one cannot afford the sandpaper and/or cannot cut a piece off of a full dowel. |

I'll stick with a 20 penny nail in a pinch, requires no mods to be functional. |

Imagine what you would do without all the time invested in making a nicer finished product though...you could make twice as many things you wouldn't want a decent picture of. For what it is worth I have enjoyed your work. |

| And the salient point is that this seller will very probably sell many of these. Caveat emptor! Cheers, RR |

I'll second that. I love the pipe I got from him. |
