I had to resist pasting a song in here..."Roll me up and smoke me when I die." by Willie Nelson. Just a little too much. But here goes some traveling music...

A perfect tune for rolling through Pendleton, Oregon. Signs are saying that 84 is closed at The Dalles, so I may have to go through Tyhe Valley and then over mt Hood. Ah yes, the scenic route.....

If you can go over to the Washington side at the Dalles. then back to 84 at White Salmon. Train derailment and fire.

What a great road trip so far. And you picked a fine time weather-wise to come. Hope the rest of the journey proves rewarding Ozzie!

Oz said:
"he was about to load it with Drum tobacco, and I handed him a my pouch of Calliope's Choice. He was astonished by the flavour, and we enjoyed an after meal smoke together. Before he left, he purchased a small Osage Orange pipe and 2 ounces of Calliope's, 3 of the BBQ blend, and a couple of ATBE."

Maybe you are a modern day Johnny Appleseed

Got caught at the the Dallas hydroelectric dam. Parked. Yuppers, black smoke in the distance. Called the client and they said that would make me too late for getting to the project....

So....

Going to get off where I can, grab some food, fuel and beverages, and go catch the evening bite on the Deschutes river, have some quiet time, fly fish and sleep. Then go to Oregon City in the morning, after the morning bite of course Very Happy . Got to make the best of it, right?

June 4th. Went and slept by the Deschutes river, awoke at 5:30, and fished dry flies. After sorting through the smaller trout, found one to my liking for breakfast. I'm now in Sandy, Oregon, and thinking about finding a Chinese buffet. I have a lot of calories to catch up on. Smoking Sam Gawith St. James Flake in a diplomat cob.

Smiling....

I'm getting pictures, just can't seem to figure out how to upload them from the camera to my phone. I didn't bring my laptop. I will amend my posts in the thread once I get a chance to sit with a computer. As Diane Shur sang, I'm traveling light.

Yunusmeer, it seems like it is not so much the end result, as it is in the journey, eh? This journey has been an excercise of the value of one staying light on their feet. Of course we know, it's the best way to dance.

Much has changed in my absence here. Not yet if it is for the best. There is a palpable sense of anxiety. Perhaps too many people too close together. Fences and locked doors. Sirens. Lights as if they are afraid of the dark. I miss the stars. The quiet. Ah well, the show will be over quickly enough, and I, as most, will miss it when it's done.

But tomorrow is another chapter, and so far I can't seem to put the book down juuuuust yet. The game is still afoot!

Last smoke of the day, Incestuous blend in a clay tavern pipe. A snifter of blackberry moonshine and a gallon of water will accompany that.

Sunday, June 5th..

Had a nice breakfast of eggs Benedict with old friends, then went to Longview Washington to see some grandchildren, one of which is almost a month old. After passing out some gifts of rabbit fur hats with raccoon tails, fools gold and maple candies, the older kids, three in number, and I, set up a sprinkler, loaded up buckets of water balloons, teamed up and went to battle. It was a mix of tag and slip-n-slide dodge ball. Before we knew it, the time slipped away and it was 20:00h. I rested long enough to dry out sufficiently so as to not soak the truck seat, and drove back to Oregon City. Still managed to get caught up in slow traffic.

This morning I realized that I am no longer 10 years old. But the grand daughter and I still won the battle.

Today I finally start the project for my client. As I sort through my tools, I think back to a conversation with the 7 year old regarding the duplicity of Sponge Bob Square Pants. The young man seems to think the character needs bipolar control medication. I had to agree.

Still smiling about that one....

Morning coffee and Rattray's winter edition for the first smoke of the day...

Yuppers, everything is good. I don't really believe in accidents, or poor turns of events, just new opportunities and adventures, lessons in games, and when poop hits the fan that's just less work of having to spread it out on the garden of life. It could be that it comes down to mathematical models, but I'm not sharp enough to pencil things out in long form, but I can recognize patterns...

Longview you say Ozzie? Nowt but a few measly hours from me. And now back in Oregon City which puts you at least a few hrs more by my reckoning.

And what's up with you being a Grampa at the young age of 52? Can't quite get my head around that!

Have you met up with our esteemed BH yet? Or any other worthies on the board? And how long are you out here??

Nosey lil' bassard, ain't I?

I have another run up to Longview before I head back to Utah. I am guiding a fly fishing trip on the Deschutes this coming weekend, then Longview on Monday. If time permits I can run the I-5 up to SeaTac and see you for a few. My late departure has pushed the schedule a bit. I'm hoping to get up there and shake hands. As far as BH, I have nothing definitive planned, though I am guessing I'm within a 9 iron drive from him. Not being the type to pop in and catch anyone in their PJ's, I'm waiting for a phone call.

As far as being a grandpa, we can say that I hit the ground running and managed to make aquaintances that were willing to teach me the ways of Eros in some most accommodating and receptivly vigorous forms. The results of such tantric encounters created a domino effect.. Twisted Evil
