Metal Part of a Tamper Empty
PostSubject: Metal Part of a Tamper   Metal Part of a Tamper EmptySun Nov 20, 2016 8:25 pm

Good Day!

For those that make tampers, where do you get the metal part? What are some options? I just purchased a lathe, and I am interested in making some tampers.

Thank You in Advance

I use 3/8" X 3" stainless steel bolts, that's the cheapest way I found so far. Why 3/8", each I might taper differently. Also I was lucky enough too also find 1/4" and 3/8" steel rods at Lowe's hardware last year. Look around your local Home Depot or Lowe's Hardware, you will be amazed of the possibilities. Good luck and have fun cheers

Another piper on here gave me the heads up to use plumbing fittings... I would have never thought of it if he hadn't shown me the way!

OW, Arky is talking about this... I sent it to him in a PM. It's a twist tamper I made, done with a rat tail file by hand.
