PostSubject: Frustrated (carborator)   Sun Mar 12, 2017 5:02 pm

So I do small engine repair work around my area. Some time I wish I did not such thing!! People just don't know how to use equipment the way it's ment to be ran and used. AND FOR GOD SAKE DON'T USE ETHANOL GAS!!!! That's turns  a good carb bad in a year and some times its not able to be fixed. So this guy drops a weedeatter off and says man it won't start. I take a look he has pulled it so hard and so much he messed the pull start up, and let gas sit in it all year soo the Jets in the card are so clogged that it's not funny. So a simple carb clean went to a carb and air filter clean and replace to a carb air filter and pull start repair. Wish the guy would understand take care of the things you got they will last longer. And don't buy something before knowing g how to care for it.
I'm not entirely sure it's with fixing sad part is its a huskavarana about a 200 dollar weed Wacker.  Any one else work on small engine and feel my pain?

Arky, you've been honest with this person. The future with his small engine equipment and proper care is up to him, you properly warned him. His future stupidity will just be a costly one if he still has not learned. Not your fault, just move on!! He will be back.

Built in obsolescence.  Many of the products you describe are listed, both online and in B&Ms, as to whether they're suited for commercial or private use. And there's often an estimate of expected useful life stated in hours. (!)  I think this has a built-in fatalism that causes consumers to lower expectations, buy the "bargain," not bother with needed maintenance, and use it 'til it quits. In some cases this might make sense, but it makes more sense in the long run to buy quality.

Lol oak your a blast haha. When I pulled it off to clean it I did a shot coat of sea foam. My favorite go to stuff the tiny Itty bitty carb had some of the worst and most crap come out I'd ever seen I mean I don't know where it all came from!!
I just hope he knows I get payed eather way, if it runs or not. My time is worth something regardless.

Replaced a snow thrower carb last year. Right now have a new carb sitting on the shelf for my lawn tractor when it starts to warm up. I just run the gas out when I'm done with the equipment, a little bit of gas preserver for the seals and such. Clean the spark plug or replace it. A little gas, a couple of tugs (or the starter on the tractor) and they fire right up. Weed whackers on the other hand I just hate!

With a new pull start, carb, and spark plug it is now running like a champion.
