...for a short while. When logging on with my laptop I keep getting redirected to a captcha page which I can't get past. Strangely my android phone is fine.

Carlos has been working to resolve the snag and has advised that I log off completely so the chaps at forumotion can get their teeth into it.

Catch up soon folks!

Carlos... over to you!

Hope it's sorted soon mate. Has to be something simple, one hopes! In the meantime you can lurk without logging in just to keep up on things.

Cheers,

RR

Best of luck with that sir! Insidious codes run rampant among the web, better to hide than to trip the wire!

See you soon!

Hopefully the guys in France that run the Forumotion software will get him fixed up sometime on Monday when they return to work. It's crazy anti-spam software run amok.

A couple advertising trackers. It's all about tracking and directed marketing.

I consider advertisers the scum of the Earth. If I want something, I will go looking for it. Make yourself easy to find. Pester me and I will more than likely avoid your products. They simply do not understand how many potential customers they drive away.

Dover...do you have unopened PM's when you open the site? I think the site will do a pop up informing you of that when you open.

Nope. That was the first thing I thought about. This was completely different behavior not seen before. I run Malbytes and Super Anti-Spyware in addition to a full Norton security suite.

The business day is ending in the EU. I have not heard anything yet. Thought I would post what I do know. There are 25 or more of these users to fix and one guy at Forumotion doing the actual fixing. Plus other stuff. 5)

They have not gotten as far as Stick on their list. Still the warning to not try logging in just yet. They only made it down the list 3 or 4 users and at least one of their attempts to fix it did not work.

Also, a reminder to the admins to not try logging in as the user with problems, or risk getting locked out also.

Supposedly fixed. The Forumotion guys posted this.

I emailed Stick this info. Hope it works. They have had a number of failures in fixing it.

Hussah! cheers

I'm back from a covert mission Sausage Side. Seems like we copped a packet in starboard 4 and poor old Smudger snagged his favourite jumper sent from his mum; lovely lady, very popular with the GIs. Managed to coax the old girl home so it's off to the Mess for tea and medals.

Stick is off again. It's been about a month. Either something changed at the ISP. Or, having to provide those folks in France who fix these sort of problems for us with information. I noticed that just about every post, Stick has a new IP address. Some ISP's do that. Instead of issuing an IP for a month. He may be triggering some thing that suspects suspicious activity simply based on how many IP's he is posting from.

So that's what's going on. Probably be next week before they fix it again.

You are most likely correct about the IP issue. I use a floating IP for much of my browsing, but have found that there are a few sites that freak out when I do. They like to track folks. To post photos here, and access my main email account, I have to use a static IP, not float it through a TOR or others.

The web wants to know which stand you twitch when you play. It's good to know we are safe in Big Brother's grasp, is it not?

They think they fixed it for Stick again. I sent him an email.

Also, it was mentioned that they are working on a new system for spamming which may solve this. But it could be months before it comes online.

Yup, I'm back.

Thanks Carlos (again). Not sure what's going on here. I don't fully understand the whole IP address thing and why I have so many; I only use two devices to access the BoB, my laptop and my phone. If there's anything I can do to prevent this happening again please let me know because I really don't what to go cap in hand to Carlos for a third time; I'm beginning to feel like the BoB's problem child.

Turning it into a positive, the experience has highlighted to me that there are goodly folk working on our behalf behind the scenes to keep the BoB up and runninng. I hadn't previously considered this, but after Carlos sprung into action (twice now) it brought it home that the BoB isn't just some completely automated service. It needs managing and admin time. So from me a big thank you to Carlos and the other elves who do their stuff so that we may enjoy the BoB as we do.

Jargon, aka "banter" (you know, like the Monty Python sketch on the RAF pilots) is always fascinating...even if I have no idea what it means.

Err, yes, quite. Allow me...

I've been away for a while, explained as follows... [war time, RAF, in a Lancaster]... I was flying on a top secret mission over Germany when we got hit in number 4 engine and in the excitement Smith, a real mummy's boy whose mum had been enjoying the company of the GIs, snagged his jumper that his mum had sent him. Somehow managed to get the plane home though and to celebrate it's off to the Officers' mess for celebratory drinks.

Just a daft British sense of humour, and yes, just like banter...

"...and it was like, really bad, because he died, and everything..."

Brilliant.

Thanks for the translation, Stick. I might have figured it out if I had the context, but I was, like, flyin' blind, ya dig whut I mean?
