A real man would use it to carve himself a nice cigar store Native Americano. Friggin' things that are any good go for several grand. Plus they are cool as hell.

The blade shape and heavy head (2 lbs) on this one make it ideal for rough shaping - stock reduction. It will turn a rough uneven surface into a level smooth one pretty quickly. Used these days mostly for spoons and bowls it seems.

My first project is a bowl carving "bench"...carved from a 5' Cherry log.

I have had the Robin Wood carving hatchet (below) for some time and appreciate its lightness very much. The Gransfors is much heavier. Together, they will make an excellent team.

Itís literally more than shaving Sharp. Close to being scary sharp. It came that way from the factory. Convexed.
