The amber stemmed one wouldn't be a corn dog would it? IE a MM Radio or other bulldog/ Rhodesian?

Does that amber stemmer have a square shank? If so, I'm assuming it is an older one. Are there any square shank models in production today? I know the Golfer used to be square shanked. I know nothing about cobs other than wee knowledge as they passed through my hands in a shop.

Yes, the amber stem pipe is from 1967! I call her Barbara! And yes, there is a story involved about this pipe...

I am so darn mad at this laptop right now I could throw it across the room. I had this
whole story almost done and the laptom decides to drop. when it came back, the thread was gone Mad

Anyway, the pipe was a prop for a play in high school. There was a girl involved. We were tossed out of the play. To this day, I don't know who snitched on us.No I was supposed to give the pipe back, but I kept it. So, I got tossed from the play, lost the girl, but I got a pipe that I have kept ever since that day. So, screw you Lil Abner!
Maybe some day I'll tell the whole story when my computer is working properly and I have a little more patience!

This is my latest. An Old Dominion with a bamboo stem. It’s a “Virginia Planter” model.

I think the story will be interesting. The oldest cob here dates back to the 70's and earlier this year I was able to purchase some new old stock from the 70's and they are great. Hoping to see the story.

In your dreams. Obviously the pipe doesn't exist; otherwise there'd be a pic or two. Basketball

Just wanted to share a reverse Calabash Cob I've been working on. The front bowl ( tobacco chamber ) I used a MM Country Gentleman and the rear reverse Calabash portion I used a MM Eaton bowl, both bowls never used prior. Took a while to get all the pieces to fit how I wanted and the other day I finally glued the two bowls together. On the underside of the Eaton bowl I carved out some of the very soft Cob and finished with an epoxy resin. The Eaton bowl is the only MM Cob that would burn thru the bottom within 20 uses. Even though the chamber on the Eaton will never get hot, I would like this pipe to last a number of years.
When finished I'm going for the Oom Paul style so it will be a full bent stem. Today due to not feeling my best I only gave the Eaton bowl a light walnut stain and two fine coats of bees wax. Tomorrow I will post a picture of the Eaton bowl stained and waxed.
Two pictures I thought I would share:

The Eaton Calabash bowl has been stained with a light Walnut and finished with food grade bee's wax. Now working on the shank and bending the stem.

There’s just something appealing about a nice pile of well used cobs. So did this young lady of yours bear any resemblance to Daisy May or Moonbeam McSwine? (The youngsters may have to search those names. If memory serves, Ms. McSwine smoked a cob. As did Mammy Yokum.)

Uh, no. She was tall and thin, had long straight brown hair, and a big hook nose! But, I really liked her and she liked me for a short time until we got kicked out of the play.

I LOVE A COB SALAD

I spent most of the day on and off cutting the shank again and making a wide enough stem so I can use a rubber bit. Did a glass bead band around the rear reverse Calabash bowl rim and the shank. The stem turned out well and it actually looks like an Oom Paul style pipe. Tomorrow I will take a few pictures and post them here. Since we are talking about Cobs. If I post it under DIY maybe 2 people will comment...lol

The completed Oom Paul Reverse Calabash Cob Pipe

Finally finished the pipe and I was able to achieve a tight fit of the shank to the chamber with a glass bead and clear liquid acrylic. No air can be sucked thru when I cup the tobacco chamber. The stem bent easily and I was able to make the bit portion wider to accommodate a rubber bit. So, it should in theory smoke well. I will light 'er up over the weekend.
I can't take full credit for the idea, I combined my version from two different reverse Calabash Cobs that were being sold a while back on eBay for what I thought was a high price.

MY COB SALAD IS NOW COMPLETE, for a while  king
